At Fuchun Primary, we believe that every child has the potential to learn, grow and thrive. We offer a range of support programmes for students who need additional help in areas such as literacy, numeracy, language development and social-emotional learning.
Learning Support Programme (LSP)
The LSP is an early intervention programme designed for P1 and P2 students with weaker literacy and language skills. Identified students attend short daily sessions in smaller groups, focusing on reading, spelling, and comprehension.
In their first three years, all students are supported through strategies that help them decode, blend, and construct meaning from texts and visuals. Teachers use a variety of pedagogical tools to support language development.
KidsLearn (English)
This programme supports selected P1 and P2 students with learning difficulties. Conducted by Educational Therapists, it focuses on improving phonics, reading fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence construction.
Reading-Enrichment Programmes
Our school also promotes a love for reading through initiatives such as:
Fuchun Reads
Characters Come Alive
NLB KidsRead
Learning Support for Math (LSM)
LSM supports identified P1 and P2 students who need help building basic numeracy skills. Lessons are held in small groups and are activity-based, focusing on developing confidence and strong mathematical foundations.
ICAN (Improving Confidence and Achievement in Numeracy)
After P2, students who continue to require support are placed in the ICAN programme — a collaboration with MOE that helps close learning gaps and builds students' confidence in Math.
Spatial Reasoning Programme (SRP)
SRP promotes both structured and unstructured learning through play. It helps students develop mathematical thinking, metacognition, and appreciation of key Math concepts while supporting the development of 21st Century Competencies.
The Mother Tongue Language (MTL) curriculum at Fuchun focuses on building a strong foundation in speaking and listening during the lower primary years, followed by reading and writing in the upper levels.
Teachers use strategies such as:
Show and Tell
Dramatization
Oral Presentation
Real-life communication scenarios
Students requiring more support in MTL are offered:
Subject Remediation
Mother Tongue Support Programme (from P3 onwards)
Approach to Bullying
Fuchun Primary takes bullying seriously and does not condone such behaviour. Bullying involves repeated deliberate actions or words that hurt or frighten others, or force them to do something unwillingly.
If a bullying case arises, the school will:
Investigate the situation
Guide students through a Modified Restorative Practice (MRP) process
Work closely with the parents of those involved
Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
Our approach ensures that students learn from their actions, restore relationships, and feel safe in the school environment.
