Q: I can't access the folder. What should I do?
A: Do NOT request for access. Instead, please follow the steps below:
Check that your school's name and email is in this list.
Check with your HOD or exam sharing coordinator that your email has been added to your school's Google Group. (we can't add your email for you - this is done internally by the school).
Check that you are accessing the folder using the correct Google account (e.g. ICON or school's Google account) and not your personal Gmail account. Switch accounts if this is the case.
If the above steps fail, drop us an email at tina_kishore_sajnani@moe.edu.sg and/or amy_luisita@moe.edu.sg and explain the issue. Please attach screenshots of the error message.
Q: Am I a member of my school's Google Group?
A: Unfortunately, we can't answer this for you. Google Groups are run internally by schools and we do not have the permission to manage them. You would have to look for the owner of the Google Group (she/he is usually another EL/Lit teacher or someone from the ICT department) and they will need to check if you are a member through the following steps:
Go to groups.google.com (make sure you are signed in with your ICON account)
Click on 'My Groups'
Under your department's group name, click 'Manage' (this will only appear if you are the group owner or manager). The list of members will then be shown.
If your name is not there, your colleague (owner or manager of the group) can add your email address.
Q: I noticed 'Group email not working' under 'Remarks' in your list of schools. What should I do?
A: First, please check that the email address on the list is accurate. Sometimes, minor typos (e.g. missing underscores) result in Google informing me that the email address does not exist.
If the address is accurate, it may be an issue of permission settings, i.e. I do not have permission to post in the group. In this case, you or the group owner of your school's Google Group will need to:
Go to groups.google.com (make sure you are signed in with your school account)
Click on 'My Groups'
Under your department's group name, click on the 'Settings' icon (this will only appear if you are the group owner or manager)
Under 'Who can post', select 'Entire organisation' (Note: If your school does not use ICON, you will have to tick 'Anyone on the web')
Save the changes.
Q: I cannot create a new group, as I could not find the 'Create Group' button on the 'Groups' page. What should I do?
A: Most ICON accounts should be able to create groups. Try again by clicking on this URL: https://groups.google.com/a/moe.edu.sg/ (make sure you are signed in to your ICON account; if not, click 'Switch accounts') and checking again if the 'Create group' button is there. It's a slightly smaller button, located on top of 'My Groups'.
If this doesn't work, perhaps it is a restriction set by your school. Please check with your school's IT department.
Q: A colleague's school is not in the list and she/he is interested to join. Can I forward her/him your email address?
A: Yes! In fact, you can forward them this site URL or our email and they can then contact us to send their newly-minted group address.
Q: My school has been removed from the folder because we did not upload our papers last year. Can we still join this year?
A: Please understand that the collaborative nature of the sharing community will only work if all schools actively participate. It is only fair to schools that faithfully share to remove groups that have not been contributing.
However, if your department has had a leadership change and you would really like to join the sharing folder, do drop us an email at tina_kishore_sajnani@moe.edu.sg and/or amy_luisita@moe.edu.sg.
Q: I'm trying to upload my school papers, but I'm told that I don't have permission to upload files. I can't seem to create individual folders as well. What should I do?
A: This may be an issue with permissions settings, which is common if you have recently transferred to a new school. Please follow the steps below:
Check that your school's name and email is in this list.
Check with your HOD or exam sharing coordinator that your email has been added to your current school's Google Group. (I can't add your email for you - this is done internally by the school).
Check that you are accessing the folder using the correct Google account (e.g. ICON or school's Google account) and not your personal account. Switch accounts if this is the case.
If the above steps fail, drop me an email at tina_kishore_sajnani@moe.edu.sg and/or amy_luisita@moe.edu.sg and explain the issue. Please attach screenshots of the error message.
Q: I don't know who is the owner of the group email in your list. Can I create a new one?
A: Yes. Do send us the updated group email once you have created it and I will update the records accordingly.
Q: My school is new to the sharing folder. Can we have access to the previous year's folders as well?
A: Yes, we will add new group emails to the recent past folders. Unfortunately, folders from 2016 and before that are full and we cannot accommodate adding new email addresses there.
Q: Why are some personal Gmail addresses added as collaborators?
A: Some schools do not use a Google-based platform like ICON. In this case, I will add the coordinator's personal Gmail account while keeping track of her/his official email address for any official communication. Such a case is the exception rather than the rule.
Q: Will there be changes to the sharing folder because of the new CES email?
A: We will continue to use ICON for the sharing folder. CES is not a Google-based email so we are unable to take advantage of the Google Drive features there.
Q: Can you add me to the mailing list?
A: You are not in the mailing list if you do not receive any of the emails we send out at the beginning/ end of each year. As of 2020, my mailing list is only comprised of the group emails found here. This means that if you are not getting our emails even if your school is not on the list, you are likely not a member of your school's Google Groups. Please click on 'Joining' to find out more.
I will be ignoring requests to add individual email addresses to the mailing list, as this can only be done internally by the Google Group owner in your school.
Q: Who is part of the team coordinating the Exam Sharing?
The Exam Sharing is currently coordinated by Tina, LT Lit at Evergreen Secondary, who manages the Lit Sharing. Amy, LT EL from Xinmin Secondary, manages the EL Sharing.
Supporting us with accountability and ICT matters is Mr Ong Chin Meng, HOD (EL) at Cedar Girls' Secondary School.
Many of you know Ms Elodie Sng, who kickstarted the Exam Sharing site many years ago. She has done a lot to help the community grow to its current size, and we are all very grateful for her!
Ms Joji Mendoza took over coordination of the folder from 2017 to 2022, and gave it its current form which we all enjoy today. She is no longer managing the folder.
If you'd like to be part of the team, let us know! Help is always welcome. :)
