Cyber wellness

What is Cyber wellness?

Cyber Wellness refers to the positive well-being of internet users.  It involves an understanding of the norms of appropriate, responsible behaviour with regard to technology use as well as knowledge, skills, values and attitudes on how to protect oneself and other internet users in the cyber world.  It looks into the positive physical and psychosocial well-being of students in their use of mobile and internet technologies.

To complement the cyber-wellness curriculum in schools, Here are some pointers to guide your child in the digital age:

1)Set ground rules for your child's Internet use,for eg,

-set a time limit for the use of electronic devices

-only access websites that are appropriate

-practice netiquette online

-keep the passwords to themselves

2) Spend quality time with your child everyday

3) Spend time doing activities together such as sports and out door activities to help  your child to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle

4) Set parental controls in electronic devices

5) Be a Role-model of good digital habits

-Be conscious about your own digital habits such as avoiding extensive use of technology and avoiding use of technology during meal times.

6) Always talk to your child to find out about his/her Internet use
