The KC Co-Curricular Programme is a key component to complement academic learning by developing students physically, socially, emotionally and morally. Students progressively develop CCA-specific knowledge, skills, values and attitudes through sustained participation in any of the four CCA groups which include Physical Sports (PS), Uniformed Groups (UG), Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) and Clubs & Societies (CS). CCA also offer excellent platforms for students to learn core values, social and emotional competencies and the emerging 21st Century Competencies
CCA participation is compulsory for all students in MOE secondary schools. Every student must participate in ONE CCA.
Under the LEAPS 2.0 (Participation, Leadership, Achievement, Service), students' co-curricular attainment will be recognised according to Excellent/Good/Fair with bonus point(s) which can be used for admission to Junior Colleges/Polytechnics/ Institutes of Technical Education (JC/Poly/ITE). Information of the LEAPS 2.0 and the school’s CCA policy can be found in the Student Journal.
Selection of CCAs
All Secondary One students will be required to submit five CCA choices and allocation will be based according to the preferences while considering their developmental potential. The school will endeavour to allocate the student to one of her five submitted choices.
Once a Secondary One student has been allocated the CCA, she must participate in that CCA for the entire academic year. If there is any request for a change of CCA, students may do so during the first month of the subsequent academic year. These students must duly fill in a prescribed CCA Transfer Form, with valid reasons for consideration, which is subjected to the final approval by the HOD PE & CCA. The timeline of the Secondary One CCA Allocation Exercise can be found in the sections below.
CCA Attendance
Please note that while CCA in primary school is optional, CCA in secondary school is compulsory and students’ attendance must be regular. The school views absence from CCA without a valid reason seriously. Students whose CCA attendance is less than 75% will receive a “Fair” for conduct in their Holistic Report Card.
Frequency and Timing of CCAs
CCAs are generally held on Wednesdays and Fridays after school and will end by 6:00 p.m. The frequency of CCA session for Physical Sports and Visual & Performing Arts CCAs will generally be twice a week and once a week for the Uniformed Groups, Clubs & Societies (except for Debate which will be twice a week).
Students who are taking official lessons (e.g. MEP, MTL lessons) at external venues must check the days and timings of their lessons with the designated CCA days. They should select a CCA that does not coincide with these lessons.
CCA Trials and Auditions
The main objective of the trials and auditions is to identify potential in our students and support their development to the fullest in the respective CCA.
Students are strongly encouraged to maximise the opportunities by registering themselves for the trials/ auditions, on the reserved dates on 14, 16, 21, 23 and 30 January 2026. They should try out CCAs from at least three of the four different groups (Uniformed Groups, Physical Sports, Visual & Performing Arts and Clubs & Societies).
Information on the trials & auditions for the respective CCAs will be available during the CCA fair on Friday, 9 January 2026.

Guidelines for CCA Selection
Choose a CCA based on your strengths and interests:
Students who have done well in their respective CCA in primary school are strongly encouraged to continue in KC to further hone their skills, especially if it is in the area of Physical Sports and the Visual & Performing Arts.
Choose a CCA which you will enjoy and one which will support you in your development as a balanced individual.
Do not be influenced by your peers as you may not enjoy doing what they enjoy.
Keep an open mind:
You may be disappointed if you do not get your preferred CCA. Keep an open mind and you may be surprised by how much you enjoy and can learn from your allocated CCA!
