American Educationists’ Visit to Bowen

In 1992, Bowen welcomed our colleagues from the education field in America.


1992

Singapore Youth Festival and National Day Parade

In 1992, 126 Bowenians participated in the Singapore Youth Festival and National Day Parade. They combined effort with five other schools to present the item “We share”.

Integrated Visit by 2nd Permanent Secretary

Mr Chiang Chie Foo, 2nd Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, visited the school for a dialogue session with teachers.

Ktisis 1 Charity Concert


Bowen Sec took part in the Ktisis 1 Charity Concert, an event organised by the North Zone Cluster Creative Committee with the goal of supporting the Singapore Children’s Society. The event was held on 11 April 1998 at the World Trade Centre’s (now known as HarbourFront Centre) auditorium.

Care for Our “Historical Objects”

On 11 July 1998, our students took part in a north zone cluster programme to develop greater appreciation for national treasures in Singapore. The participants learned about the need to care for items of historical significance.

1999

Visit to the New School Site

Bowen’s then Principal, Mrs Grace Lim, VP Ms Soh Geok Kee, and key staff visited the new Bowen school site at 2 Lorong Napiri on 21 January 1999. The team had a meeting with members from the Public Works Department.

Handing Over Ceremony of New School Building


On 2 December 1999, the new school building was formally handed over to the staff of Bowen Secondary. Mr Andrew Lai, then Senior Project Manager MOE School Development Office, presented the key to then Principal Ms Grace Lim. The school staff was led on a grand tour of the school.

Bowen Moves to New Premises

With rolling drums and impressive bagpipes, the Boys’ Brigade led a contingent of staff and students from the old school building to the new premises at the junction of Yio Chu Kang road and Hougang Ave 2 on 4 December 1999.

Opening of Modular Rooms and Integrated Learning Centre

On 24 April 1999 and 2 July 1999, Modular Rooms and the ILC in Bowen were respectively opened. These rooms created a more conducive learning environment for students in Bowen.

Identical Results
The Straits Times, 4 Dec 1999

Identical twins Neo Lai Yuan and Lai Wei had almost identical results in their Normal (Technical) examinations. Lai Yuan was one of the top five students island-wide.
