From 2021, all secondary schools students will receive a personal laptop or tablet for learning.
For Secondary One students, you will receive your personal learning device (PLD), a chromebook, in Week 8.

SCENARIO:
Hope is a student in Sec 1.
She has been feeling tired and distracted lately as she has been sleeping late ever since she has recently gotten her mobile phone. After PSLE, her parents gave her a mobile phone and she has been sending more time chatting with her friends, scrolling through social media and binge watching drama till 1am.
She is going to receive her personal learning device (PLD) soon. Although she know the device is meant for her studying, she is afraid she will get distracted by the internet.
As a friend, what can you suggest to her?

Watch the videos for strategies to help you manage device distractions. Which are some strategies you can use?
In order to help yourself manage the use of your devices, you need to
first identify what distracts you when you are on your device. (game? IG? TikTok? YouTube?)
Next device a plan.
Set a goal for yourself i.e. to focus for 30 min to do my work
Set a reward/ punishment for your goal. For example, a reward can be, after I am done with my work after 30 min, I can watch the YouTube for 15 min. a punishment can be, if I do not finish my work, I cannot use my device.
Set a timer to remind yourself to go back to your work.
