Day 1:
Today, I learned about the flipped classroom approach, the SAMR model, and how to create a learning portfolio using Google Sites. These ideas have inspired me to think differently about how I teach and how my pupils learn. The flipped classroom allows students to learn basic content at home—through videos, presentations, or reading materials—and use class time for deeper discussions, hands-on tasks, and active learning. I find this model useful because it gives me more time in class to guide, support, and interact with my pupils meaningfully.
The SAMR model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) is a helpful guide for integrating technology into my teaching. It helps me reflect on whether I am just replacing traditional tools with digital ones or truly transforming the learning experience. For example, instead of just typing answers on a digital worksheet (Substitution), I can have students collaborate on a shared document, create multimedia presentations, or even publish their work online (Redefinition).
One of the most exciting things I learned today was how to create a learning portfolio using Google Sites. This tool allows me to design a digital space where pupils can access learning materials, submit their work, and reflect on their progress. It is also a great way to promote ownership of learning and encourage pupils to take pride in their achievements.
Overall, today’s learning has opened my eyes to the possibilities of using technology to improve teaching and learning. With the flipped classroom, SAMR model, and digital portfolios, I feel better equipped to create engaging, meaningful, and student-centered learning experiences.
Day 2 :
Today has been a valuable learning experience as I explored two powerful digital tools: Edpuzzle and Canva. First, I learned how to use Edpuzzle to edit videos and create interactive video lessons. I discovered how to trim videos, insert questions, and add voiceovers, which can help engage students more effectively and assess their understanding in real time. This tool is especially useful for creating flipped classroom content, allowing students to learn at their own pace while ensuring they remain actively involved in the learning process.
In addition, I had the opportunity to use Canva to design and create a presentation. Canva’s wide range of templates, design elements, and user-friendly features made it easy to craft visually appealing and informative slides. I appreciated how intuitive the interface was, even for beginners. Learning to use these tools has not only improved my digital skills but also sparked new ideas for creating engaging and creative learning materials. I feel more confident incorporating technology into my lessons, and I look forward to exploring more ways to enhance teaching and learning through these platforms.
Overall, today’s session has equipped me with practical skills that I can apply immediately in my classroom.
