UNIT 1: UNPACKING BELIEFS

How do you currently incorporate technology into your teaching methods?

I’ve been teaching and learning for over 11 years now, and I’ve always used tech in my lessons to keep things engaging. I incorporate teaching software on the Smartboard, YouTube videos, and Google Classroom to make learning more interactive and accessible for my students. While technology is constantly evolving, I try to keep up with the changes to make sure my students get the best experience. For me, though, teaching always comes first—tech is just a tool to support it. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned, and tech can be a bit tricky, but when that happens, I find other ways to keep the learning going and ensure my students are still having a great time.

2. Do different technology integration levels impact student learning experiences? If so, can you explain?

Yes, the level of technology integration can definitely impact student learning experiences in various ways. When technology is used thoughtfully and in different levels of depth, it can either enhance or limit how students engage with the material.

At the most basic level, technology can support learning by providing access to resources like videos, slides, and interactive activities that might not be available in a traditional classroom. This level might include things like showing a YouTube video to introduce a topic or using educational apps on the Smartboard for some interactive practice.

UNIT 2: DIGITAL PORTFOLIO

In my digital classroom experience, I have gained a wide range of knowledge and skills that go beyond traditional learning. Some of the key things I’ve learned include technology skills, I’ve become more comfortable using various digital tools and platforms. This has helped me improve my tech literacy, which is essential in today’s world.

UNIT 3: REVISITING FLIPPED CLASSROOM

Define flipped classroom in your own words.

A flipped classroom is a teaching method where students learn new content at home—often through videos, readings, or other online resources—and then use class time for activities that deepen their understanding, like discussions, problem-solving, or group projects. Instead of the teacher lecturing during class and assigning homework after, the process is flipped: the "lecture" happens at home, and the "homework" happens in class with guidance and support. It's designed to make class time more interactive and personalized.

2. How do you think flipped classroom can be applied in your own words?

Give students materials to review before class, a short video explaining grammar rules (e.g., past tense verbs). In the class, students work in group and talk about the story or reading—analyze characters, themes, or author's purpose. Then, students have to write using the grammar or vocabulary they learned (e.g., write a short story using past tense).

This approach gives them more opportunities to engage actively and gives me more time to support students individually or in small groups. It also allows for more personalized learning since students can move through the content at a pace that works for them, and class time is used for deeper exploration rather than just delivering information.
