WHAT IS A GRAPHIC ORGANIZER?
A graphic organizer, also known as a knowledge map, concept map, story map, cognitive organizer, advance organizer or concept diagram is a pedagogical tool that uses visual symbols to express knowledge and concepts through relationships between them. The main purpose of a graphic organizer is to provide a visual aid to facilitate learning and instruction (Wikipedia contributors, 2023).
EXAMPLE
A graphic organizer is a visual tool that helps organize and represent information. It typically includes components like boxes, circles or other shapes to contain text, images or symbols that represent concepts or ideas. Arrows or lines connect these components to show relationships, sequences or hierarchies between them. Common types include mind maps, Venn diagrams, flowcharts and tables. Digital tools like Google Drawings are excellent for creating graphic organizers as they offer flexibility in design, easy editing capabilities and the ability to collaborate online.
