DAY 1
Technology and education are inseparable when it comes to enhancing the teaching and learning experience especially for students. Teachers have been comfortable being the center of the lesson up to present. However, the perspective is now changing in parallel to different technological integration and advancement. Hence, students are expected to be in charge of their own learning by utilizing technology. Teachers should act as catalyst in enhancing students' learning experience by integrating technology in their lesson.
This course offers a refreshing view through sharing sessions with teachers from different school atmosphere. It is an exemplary practice for teachers to exchange viewpoins on their pedagogical skills pertaining technology. By learning how to build digital portfolio, teachers are able to showcase their knowledge, experience, and achievement within a controlled environment, allowing fellow teachers to give feedbacks that aid as constructive criticism towards the betterment of oneself. As such, this portfolio can be a mechanism to store ideas, evidence and reflections digitally that enable teachers to continuously collaborate among one another.
At last, the knowledge of classroom flipping through SAMR Model and Edpuzzle definitely help teachers to diversify their lessons across multiple intelligence and they are a powerful tool to draw students toward student-centered learning. I hope to be able to put the newly learned knowledge into practice with my students to get them shift their mindsets into accepting technology as an integral part of education.
DAY 2
During the first session today, we immersed in the world of classroom flipping with Edpuzzle. in groups of four and then in pairs, all teachers were expected to come up with two sets of quizzes consisting of five questions each based on videos. The questions vary from MCQ, open ended, and note. It is something new for me as I have never used Edpuzzle before and I find it to be interesting but yet easy to maneuver.
For the second session, we were introduced with screen casting app called Screencastify. It is indeed a powerful tool that allows teachers to screen record their teaching or presentation and sharing it on multiple learning platforms including Google Classroom, Padlet, Telegram and others. The only drawback I could think of is, as a user, you have to add Chrome Extension which at times, could cause malicious contents to be injected into websites thus eventually putting your personal data at risk. I used to do these using Canva and Powerpoint.Â
However, exploring Screencastify has given me a new outlook on how to do things differently. As I have more alternatives now, it is hopeful I can tailor my lessons better to enhance my students' learning experience.
