DIGITAL ELT MASTERY PROJECT BASED LEARNING (PBL)
WHAT DO YOU KNOW ?
Project Based Learning (PBL) is where pupils learn by working or doing project over a period of time. In PBL pupils normally present their ideas and create product.
HAVE YOU USE IT OR NOT ?
I have used PBL in my lesson before. For example, I asked my Year 4 pupils to create their scrapbook about 'My Family". They were given two weeks to complete the task. Through this activity, pupils were able to use English creativelywhile describing their family members using simple sentences and pctures. Besides that, during English Month, the English Panel of my school carried out a poster competition entitled “My Favourite Cartoon Character”. Pupils designed and presented creative posters based on their chosen cartoon characters. This activity encouraged them to improve their vocabulary, writing, and creativity. In addition, I also conduct group presentations in class. Pupils work together to discuss ideas, prepare materials, and present their work in English.
HOW YOU ACCESS PBL ?
I use rubric to assess the PBL. Sometimes by observation.
DO YOU USE FLIPPED LEARNING IN PBL ?
Yes, I used flipped learning in PBL especially when teaching 'RBT' class. Because of the time constrain, I always ask the pupils to watch the video about the project before the class. So during the class they already know what to do.
