We use Google Classroom as our digital learning portal on Team Summit. This 9-minute video will walk you through some helpful features of this platform. Though not all assignments will funnel through GC (especially in math), this is a great place for adults to visit with their scholars to check in on how things are going. Summit students will have to be signed into their Google account for adults to visit their scholar's Google Classroom.
You might want to specifically listen to the following sections of this video:
To Do List for Viewing Assignments - 1:48-2:13
Calendar view of Due Dates - 2:28-2:45
Viewing Grades/Feedback, and more on missing assignments - 3:20-4:14
Receiving Guardian Notifications - 7:15-8:06 (we'll send guardian invitations out during the first couple of weeks of school, however we've found these to be not very helpful. The best way to check in with your Summit student is to look at their homework planner together, and use the Talking Points questions we send each week to have a conversation about how school is going.)
