At BRMS, like our sending schools from the district, readers and writers study these disciplines following a workshop model. Through workshops, we grow our reading, thinking, jotting, discussing, and writing skills.

Students will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate the following benchmark understandings in reading and writing this year.

Be prepared with books to read at all times!
Read, enjoy and understand books - without distraction for a stretch of time
Read DAILY at school and at least 30 minutes at HOME
Read at least 2 books in a month and track of these by keeping a log of finished books (see links below).
Some months readers will be required to read a certain genre of book for specific book clubs, assignments, or reading projects. Assignments will be noted in students' homework planners.
