April 10, 2026
This week, students worked incredibly hard on their VTCAP state testing. They showed great focus and perseverance as they completed most, and in some cases all, of the ELA portion. We are very proud of their effort and will continue with the math portion next week.
In literacy, students are wrapping up their fractured fairy tales and bringing their stories to life by creating trioramas that showcase an important scene. This week, one group performed a puppet show of The Three Little Pigs, and last week, another group performed a Reader’s Theater of Snow White. It has been wonderful to see their expression and fluency in action. All students have been practicing their reading fluency as they prepare to perform their own fairy tales for our Kindergarten buddies. We are looking forward to having the remaining groups perform next week before vacation.
Last week, students also had some fun playing an epic April Fool’s joke on me that included ducks and snakes! It definitely brought lots of laughter to our classroom.
We are also working hard to win the Battery Bonanza and have already recycled over 450 pounds of batteries, an amazing accomplishment!

Classroom Treats
On occasion, we might give students trident gum, tic tacs, lifesavers mints, hot cocoa, popcorn, or hershey's milk chocolate for something fun. As part of the district health protocols, we need to notify you of this. Please reach out to me if your child will need to opt out of this.
Friday Notebooks
Please make a note on your family calendar to send your child’s Friday notebook to school each Friday (or earlier if possible!). It means so much to your child to read your response and write back to you. They truly look forward to that connection every week.
