At MLC, there are three main genres of transcription: Standard, Law Enforcement and Insurance. Each has different guidelines.
In addition, there are specific guidelines for one of our clients, Ventura County. You can find those guidelines here.
These guidelines apply to transcriptions where clients have not made any specific requests regarding the format and style. Bear in mind, however, that most clients do provide specifications, which your project manager will inform you about, and they may be different from the information provided in this section. General transcription follows the Clean verbatim style, unless otherwise noted by the project manager.
These guidelines apply to transcripts that will be used in law enforcement procedures. These guidelines are longer and more detailed because of the sensitive nature of the material and the purposes for which they will be used (litigation, prosecution, etc.), where accuracy is extremely important. Strict verbatim is the style used for law enforcement.

These guidelines apply to the transcription of insurance related recorded statements. These guidelines are client-specific and your project manager will link them to your job instructions.
