Birthdays

If you do not celebrate birthdays or any other holidays, please let me know as soon as possible so I can plan alternative activities.

Birthday Policy

Gifts

To celebrate your child's birthday, our class will make them a Birthday Book! First, we will interview your child. Then each student will create a page for the birthday person in their Birthday Book! I will put all the pages together to create a book for the birthday person! If you would like to send in goodie bags, please make sure to send in enough for the class. Please save all other gifts for your home.

Birthday Treats

You are welcome to send store-bought treats if you let me know ahead of time. You can email me at micross@mjusd.com to let me know what you'll be sending. Please send in something that we can grab and go like mini cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, or cookies. Please do not send in full-size cakes or a tub of ice cream as I do not have the time or supplies to slice and serve them. Please send the birthday treats in the morning. We are very busy with our learning, so this allows flexibility with when we can serve the treats.

Birthday Invitations

Please do not send birthday invitations to school unless you are inviting the entire class. Too many kids get their feelings hurt! If you want to have your child pass them out after school, please make sure you have names on the invitation envelope. So often kids use unmarked ones as a way for kids to earn their way to an invite. For example, "If you do whatever I say, then I'll give you an invitation to my party." I would be happy to provide you with a class list.

If your birthday falls on a weekend or a break, we most likely will celebrate it the Friday before. If you have a summer birthday, we will celebrate it in May.
