Graphic Design is an advanced elective course designed to expand and deepen the learner’s understanding of the art of graphic design and print production from concept development to finished product. In this class students will learn to use Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (as well as a variety of web based design tools during our distance learning phase of the year). Students will use this knowledge to produce graphic design materials for school performances, personal artistic expression and others items as needed. Students will learn to work with a customer (the individual(s) requesting the work or commission the design) to determine project scope, goals, a vision for the finished product. Students will learn the iterative process of design, often having to rework a piece a number of times before they accomplish what the requesting person(s) is wanting. Students work collaboratively to support one another during the design process and often provide critical feedback and analysis of each other's work. Students taking this course will learn to create meaning through text, images, and layout, as well as learning about themselves in the process.
