While our initial concern was that some students may not have any access to these courses, we found that, according to the Advanced Placement Policies in the state of West Virginia, all high schools are required to offer at least one AP course in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
Yet, an average of only 23.0% of high school graduates took an AP course from 2010-2020.
