Grades & Google Classroom

Just a reminder that we are using standards-based grading, which means that students are assessed against a standard and not by how many points they earn. I am still getting regular "Does this count?" type questions from students, and my answer is always the same. It "counts" toward learning.

Please check in with your child about missing work because it all "counts" toward practicing the skills that are necessary for progress. You can have them log in to their Google Classroom and be sure that they have completed all the work listed there.

Volunteer Opportunities

LibraryThing input. Ms. Shelton shared a fantastic tool for organizing our class library, but it requires a bit of work entering all the books into it! I've already had two volunteers help out in this way, and I'm looking forward to finally having everything cataloged and organized so that I can confidently answer students who ask "Do you have...?"

I've created an online instruction sheet so that anyone with background check and extra time can stop by school and grab a handful of booksScholastic has made it even easier to shop for books. New paper flyers are available for students in the classroom, or you can browse the flyers at the link.
