One formal student work sample is required for each learning period to reflect the goals we have previously set for the learning period.
Each Work Sample should include the following:
Be an example of your student’s best work (please no coloring sheets or messy samples)
Is an original piece of student work
Aligns with a grade level state standard (I Can Statement)
Is labeled with:
The student’s first and last name written by the student
The date completed written by the student (needs to be a school day listed on the attendance log for the current learning period - no weekends/holidays)
TK-8th Grade: You will select your child's BEST work sample from Math, Reading, Science, or Social Studies. I will provide you with a schedule of when and what to submit for each learning period.
Submitting your student attendance is very easy here at MVA! All attendance will be logged through the Parent Portal and archived each learning period. The learning periods (LPs) will be about every 20 school days. Final attendance with signature and date is due on the last day of the learning period by 3pm.

We will meet to discuss progress and review work samples every learning period (about once a month). This is also a great time to get your questions answered and reach out for extra support with your homeschooling journey. You, the learning coach, and the students are both required to attend all meetings.
During our meeting, we will discuss the following:
Review & discuss your student's body of work completed for the current LP.
Review progress on Curriculum & I Can Statements selected for the current LP.
Please bring upcoming topics or learning goals you have planned for your students for the upcoming LP.
I am happy to help with any planning or questions you may have!
“I Can Statements” will help to identify the learning goals for your child for their grade level. At each learning period meeting, we work together to identify which I Can Statements your child will be learning during the next learning period.
Body of Work can be shown to me at meetings. We can discuss and record current progress in the curriculum, or I can snap pictures of your student's work.
It also can be loaded by you into your Google Drive family folder during the LP. Informal student work (body of work) for each learning period should reflect the "I Can" and grade level standards that your student is working on.
