We understand that every family's journey is unique, and we're here to support you wherever you are in yours.Building Community Together
Our program is designed to be accessible, meaningful, and joyful—offering opportunities for children and parents to explore Jewish traditions, build lasting friendships, and create cherished memories. From weekly educational programs and monthly Shabbat services to seasonal outings and casual social gatherings, we provide diverse ways for families to engage with Jewish life and build community. Whether you're new to synagogue life or returning after time away, you'll find a supportive community ready to welcome you.
Our Programming Â
Torah for Tots
Monthly | Ages 2–5
Torah for Tots provides a gentle introduction to Jewish learning for our youngest community members and their families. This monthly program features age-appropriate stories, songs, and hands-on activities that introduce Jewish values and traditions in a playful, engaging environment. Each session includes simple art projects and plenty of time for children to explore and parents to connect. Torah for Tots is an ideal starting point for families new to Mishkan Torah or those seeking a relaxed entry into synagogue programming.
Sundays | Kindergarten - Second Grade
Our Hebrew School program for kindergarten through second grade offers a developmentally appropriate introduction to Jewish learning in a nurturing, creative environment. Students explore Jewish holidays, values, and traditions through interactive activities, music, storytelling, and art projects. The curriculum includes a gentle introduction to Hebrew language while emphasizing joy, curiosity, and friendship. With experienced teachers and small class sizes, we create a space where every child feels valued and excited to learn about their Jewish heritage.
Holiday Carnivals & Festivals Intergeerational Kabbalat Shabbat
Seasonal Celebrations
Throughout the year, Mishkan Torah hosts family-friendly holiday celebrations that bring our community together in joy and celebration. These festive gatherings feature games, crafts, music, and activities for all ages, creating meaningful connections to the Jewish calendar in an accessible and welcoming atmosphere. Our holiday events are open to all families and provide an excellent opportunity for those new to the synagogue to experience our community's warmth and spirit.
Kabbalat Shabbat  Â
Monthly | Friday Evenings on the 3rd Friday of the Month
Once each month, we gather for a special Kabbalat Shabbat service designed to welcome all generations. This family-friendly service features participatory music, engaging prayers, and a length appropriate for younger children (approximately 30 minutes). Grandparents, parents, and children come together to welcome Shabbat in a setting that honors both tradition and the needs of young families. These services emphasize community, inclusion, and the beauty of celebrating Shabbat across generations.
Young Families Potluck Socials Â
Bi-Weekly | Wednesday Evenings (~2x per month)
Every other Wednesday, young families gather for casual potluck dinners that foster connection and community. These informal gatherings provide time for children to play together while parents enjoy meaningful conversation in a relaxed setting. Families are invited to bring a dish to share—homemade or store-bought—though the focus is simply on being together. There's no formal programming, just the opportunity to build friendships and strengthen our community bonds.
Community Outings & Adventures Â
Seasonal Events
Throughout the year, our young families venture beyond the synagogue walls for memorable experiences that blend Jewish tradition with fun, family-friendly activities. Past and planned outings include apple picking before Rosh Hashanah, attending local baseball games for Jewish American Heritage Night, and Havdalah camping trips under the stars. These excursions provide opportunities to celebrate Jewish life in new settings, explore our local community, and create lasting memories together. Outings are designed to be accessible and welcoming for families of all backgrounds and experience levels.
