List of actions MT members can take to assist the community

1. We encourage people to support our congregation members; reach out and assist them if needed.  

It is also important to support local businesses and restaurants that offer take-out.

2. List of places to donate food items:

To contribute needed food, a local pantry collects food donations at the Berwyn Presbyterian Church, 6301 Greenbelt Rd, across the small street from the McDonalds. It is important to call prior to coming at 301-699-9009. The telephone is answered Mondays through Fridays from 10 AM to 2 PM; on Monday and Tuesdays open 9 AM to 4 PM.

The pantry at St. Hugh’s of Grenoble Catholic church 

St Hugh’s Catholic Church 135 Crescent Road (Rectory Pantry) 

Open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The Rectory is in the parish house with an entry on the right side. Do not use the front door.  They especially need

1- Jelly and or Jam for PB&J sandwiches

2- Spaghetti Sauce (They have plenty of pasta)

3- Boxes of cold breakfast cereal, and

4- Shelf-stable pudding cup packs (not needing refrigeration)

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9 - 11 a.m. & 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, 6 - 7 p.m.

Their greatest needs are canned meats, canned fruit, soup, tuna fish, spaghetti sauce, dry goods pasta and rice. 

Adventist Community Services, l

located at 501 Sligo Avenue, and serving the lower income East Silver Spring area, is accepting donations of nonperishable food or money.  To accept food donations, they keep large trash cans in front of their door round the clock.  To make a monetary donation.

3. Blood Drive information-- Go to Red Cross Blood and enter in their zip code to find a drive or donation center closest to them. They are currently running by appointment only, so please schedule an appointment online. You can also schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767 (1-800-RED-CROSS). Their Customer Care folks are super helpful.

5. We encourage people to support the Jewish Federation, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS) and other Jewish causes.

Public radio such as WAMU and local as WAMU and local newspapers are also important causes, by keeping us up to

date about the current crisis.
