CLASS 'A' SURFACE MODELING

The surfaces of a product that are visible from the outside and directly seen, touched, and felt by the customer are referred to as Class-A (in German, "Strak") surfaces. They hold significant importance in terms of the product's perceived quality and brand value.

Class-A surface modeling is used in all industrial products. The most common example is in the design processes of the automotive industry. Class-A surface design is created by transforming 3D scanning data obtained from a clay model or a physical model into manufacture-ready Class-A surfaces.

Therefore, it is an area emphasized in product development and design processes. Class-A surfaces are created in a digital environment by Computer-Aided Surfacing (CAS) & CAD experts. These surfaces must meet technical requirements and aesthetic expectations.
