Wedding letterpress invitations are available in 1-color, 2-color, or 3-color printing
Most designs have 3 or 4 pre-selected color palettes available, depending on the colorways supplied by the community artist
Matching letterpress accessory cards are available in the same number of colors as the invitation
Customers also have the option of choosing different colors, limited to Minted's Pantone Wedding Letterpress swatch library. They can substitute as many colors as are available within the colorway they have selected (1, 2, or 3 colors total). Custom color palettes can be chosen within the customizer by clicking on the rainbow icon to the right of the design preview. Again, customers can only choose from our Pantone Wedding Letterpress swatch library.
If the customer selects any of the pre-selected colorways in the customizer, there will not be any custom color instructions on the proofing page.
To confirm the customer's choice of color palette,
go to the design's PDP (Product Details Page) and open the customizer
match the customer preview on the proofing page to the same pre-selected colorway in the customizer to confirm the customer's Pantone color choices
This is a necessary step because the color scheme listed under the order summary is the colorway, NOT necessarily the Pantone color swatch you should use in the design file.
Often, the WTP will not match the customer preview, regarding the number of colors chosen, or the actual colors chosen themselves.
You will need to use a couple of methods to determine the number of colors selected by the customer.
You can check that the price listed in the order details for the invitation or RSVP card matches the price for one or two colors on the PDP. You can get the quantity and paper type from the customer's order details page, and then put that into the PDP to determine how many colors the customer paid for.
You can masquerade by going to “edit design” before the first proof is sent and if it’s a two color card it will default to showing two colors.
*Note: sometimes even masquerading might show the wrong colors. Typically determining the price paid by the customer is the most reliable method.
If the customer selects a Pantone color that isn't included in the pre-selected color palettes in the customizer, there will be color instructions in MBO. Customers can do this by using the "Request a custom color" rainbow icon, shown directly below the default color palette options.
For example, in this order, the customer selected a custom color:
So, in this case, you would apply the Stone Wedding Letterpress Pantone swatch, which is 2178U.
Never apply the hex code values.
Unlike foil products, letterpress orders don't need to be canceled or restarted to change colors.
If a customer requests a color change, the DA can make the adjustment as long as the new color request comes from the Minted Wedding Letterpress swatch library.
The DA also needs to remember to change the layer name to the new spot color. Customers can choose to change colors at any point during the proofing process.
If the customer requests to add an additional color or remove a color, QCs can use the note template Adding another color to letterpress order from mntd.space.
DAs cannot simply add an additional color - the order will need to be hotlisted and a financial adjustment applied.
This follows the same process as backer fees - the customer needs to approve the fee for an additional color before the DA can apply it to the design file.
