For each order with a Design Element, the QC needs to download the proof round’s AI file to check the Design Element’s PPI.
The resolution for Design Elements should range between 300-600 PPI in Illustrator for stationery cards.
Select the Design Element object and check the PPI in the Control Bar above.
You can also check the PPI by going to the Links panel. Click on the Design Element image to view its properties below. There, you will see the image’s PPI.
A Design Element over a light background might need adjustment.
Select the Design Element and check what mode it’s set to in the Transparency panel.
Toggle between “Normal” and “Multiply” to see which mode works best.
Please reject the proof if the DA did not set the Design Element to the best Transparency mode.
The WTP file and Design Element file(s) should be zipped in a compressed folder.
Vector Design Elements do not need to be zipped.
The zipped Design Element file(s) are in the PNG format. No AI or PSD files.
Review the Design Requests section for instruction on the Design Element’s placement on the item.
If the customer didn't provide any design requests, please address this in your QC note and ask the customer if they would like to change where the Design Element is placed on their card/sign.
Check if there are Color Instructions for recolor requests.
Double-check the Design Element text box(es) for stock text.
Design Elements should be downsized for small-scale formats to 300-600 PPI.
For items with light-colored backgrounds, go to the Transparency panel and toggle between “Normal” or “Multiply.”
