Program Overview
The Minden High School Agriculture Program strives to teach students about different areas of the agriculture industry. The program was established in 2020 and currently offers a total of 10 different courses beginning with 8th grade agriculture. Students enrolled in an agriculture course are also eligible to join the Minden FFA Chapter.
Learning to Do - Doing to Learn - Earning to Live - Living to Serve
Agricultural Education is based on a 3-circle model. It include classroom, FFA, and SAE. When students are enrolled in an agriculture course they have the opportunity to become a FFA member. All members are required to have a SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) that allows students to take what they have learned in the classroom and FFA and implement it. Agricultural education is designed to teach students, engage in leadership, and implement their knowledge.
Meet the Teacher and FFA Advisor
Stationed by the owl, Mrs. Oertle was born and raised on a swine and row crop farm in central Ohio. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Education from Purdue University in 2016. After graduation she moved to Kearney where she helped start the agriculture program and FFA chapter. Mrs. Oertle taught at Kearney for 4 years before moving to Minden in 2020 to begin the agriculture program and FFA chapter.
