Reflection
What do you notice when you are in a mindful position?
How is it different than we normal sit?
What does it mean to be mindful?
Who can share an example where it would have been helpful for you to be in a mindful position in the last week?
When can you use mindful position this week?
Concepts
Restful yet alert bodies signal the brain to be attentive. Sitting up straight with a long strong back allows oxygen flow to the vital organs, including the brain. Sitting up straight increases alertness. Slouchy bodies can make us drowsy and inattentive.
Being mindful is paying attention on purpose to what is happening right now with kindness. When we practice being mindful, we often notice that it’s easier to pay attention, we feel calmer and our bodies and minds slow down.
Closing
Try sitting in a mindful position once a day for the rest of the week.
