Millions of under-resourced American students lack the access to technology and the skills they need to succeed in today’s digital world. Many communities throughout the U.S. do not have equal exposure to connectivity and technology, and many of those schools struggle to keep students interested in STEM subjects, as well as to teach coding and engineering skills to students to help address the digital divide. In an increasingly technology-dependent economy, now more than ever, it’s important to help provide under-resourced students with the skills needed to put them on the path to success.

Our impact: Verizon Innovative Learning is driving academic improvements. Teachers reported: o 89% said VILS helped them explore new ways of teaching o 85% said that VILS allowed for more individualized instruction o 82% said that VILS enhanced their ability to differentiate instruction o 78% said that VILS enhanced student engagement o 71% said VILS helped them reach goals they already set for their classroom and teaching o 63% believe VILS enhanced positive interactions among students in the classroom Students reported: o 59% believe assignments are easier when using a tablet o 54% believe having the device improved their confidence in the things they can do. * Source: Westat (2019).
