Rules

 The sections below provide overall expectations for digital storytelling project submissions, be they video or graphics, as well as the specific criteria each project type will be judged on.  

Who is eligible to submit a project?

• • • • Any MPS K-12 individual student

      • Any MPS K-12 collaborative student groups

      • Any MPS K-12 classroom group (teacher supported)

Grade Bands

• K-2 - Editing and filming most likely done by teacher, but original student video, audio or classwork captured - mostly class/group work.

• 3-5 - Some editing and filming most likely done by teacher, but original student ideas, video, audio or classwork captured - mostly group with some individual work.

• 6-8 - Editing and filming mostly done by students, with original student video, audio or classwork captured - mostly individual possibly some group work.

• 9-12 - Editing and filming done by students with student original video, audio or classwork captured - mostly individual work.

What project categories are eligible for submission?

• • • Video/Podcast Projects (video MP4 only, audio MP3)

      • • Personal Video/Personal Podcast - video or podcast less than 5 minutes long, telling a personal story video less than 5 minutes long, telling a digital narrative about the project producer's connection.

        • Informational Video/Informative Podcast - video or podcast less than 3 minutes long, telling a digital expository story highlighting a persons, place or thing that is connected to the theme.

        • Public Service Announcement (PSA)- video less than 2 minutes long, message in the public interest to raise awareness and change behavior 

    • Graphic Designs (.JPEG, .PNG, or PDF only)

      • • Graphic Design - Visuals that convey a unique perspective on the theme.  (examples: infographics, digital collage, web pages)

Content of projects

• • • All content must be appropriate and meet Student Code of Conduct standards outlined in the MPS Student Handbook. (No swearing or references drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, etc.) 

Must work be completely original?

• • • The work must be completely original, but content may include non-original elements. Projects may include unoriginal content, but that content must be royalty free or have express written permission of the originator and all non-original content must be cited (citation criteria noted below). 

Media Release - All students must have a current media release to participate kept on file at school
