Jean-François was a seeker of knowledge. One way he was a seeker is he tried to figure out the language of Hieroglyphs even when other people told him he could not. One day he got a package from a friend who lived in Egypt. The text states, "In it were the names of pharaohs* copied from a temple wall. Each name was a jigsaw puzzle of letters and pictures. Jean-François studied the names and saw the link!" He replied the pictures were syllables not just sounds. thoth,(the god of writing) followed by the letters m and s to figure out the pharaoh's name Thothmes! This shows that Jean figured out hieroglyphs before anyone else because he was a seeker of knowledge.
Invasive Species

Nutria are considered invaders. They are invaders because they are native to South America but people brought them to Maryland to make coats. The text states, "They chewed up bulrush plants, including the roots. By doing that, nutria ruined the soil, making it very difficult for some new plants to grow.
Partly as a result, thousands of acres of marshland in Maryland are now damaged." This shows that nutria are invaders because they damaged the soil and ruined wetlands in Maryland.

This week on February 28-March1st, the Fourth and Fifth graders will be showing the play Summer Camp! The Musical! The musical is 40 minutes long, there are 7 songs, and the camp is called Camp Runamock. In an interview, we talked to Charlie Sherman, who is a camper. He has one line, and his favorite song is the "Morning Routine". When I asked Charlie his favorite part of the play he said, "I really liked the t-shirts!" He is happy because there will be a cast list of the people who are in the musical at the front office. The play is on February 28 at 6:30pm and on Saturday, March 1st at 12:00pm in the Glover cafeteria! Go check it out!
