6-8 ELA

Tier 1: Amplify ELA

Amplify ELA is a blended curriculum designed specifically for grades 6-8.  With Amplify ELA, students learn to tackle any complex text and make observations, grapple with interesting ideas, and find relevance for themselves.  Students are engaged through dynamic texts, lively classroom discussions, and meaningful digital experiences.

Built specifically for middle school, Amplify ELA is an interactive core curriculum that brings complex texts to life.  Amplify ELA inspires students to read more deeply, write more vividly, and think more critically.

With text always at the center, students are encouraged to make meaning for themselves.  They develop ideas and options on real-world, relevant texts, instead of focusing on right or wrong answers.

Multiple entry points and differentiated supports allow every student, regardless of fluency or ability level, to engage deeply with the same complex texts and rigorous curriculum.

Tier 2: Classroom Instructional Groups

Students in all grades experience Tier 2 intervention through instructional groups.  Within the classroom setting, teachers spend time with students working on both grade-level content as well as individualized skills identified through assessment and observation.

Tier 2: Reading Specialist Support

For students who demonstrate below grade level performance on foundational skills on the iReady Diagnostic, a Reading Support class is recommended to be included in their schedule.  Ms. Michelle Edwards is the Reading Specialist who supports students in grades 6, 7, and 8.  Ms. Edwards uses the Read 180  HMH Curriculum to  support students in skill development through engaging texts and practice questions at a personalized level.    Progress monitoring data is collected throughout the term to measure growth and  student schedules are adjusted based on  data cycles.
