Welcome to Millway Primary School
School Council
At Millway Primary School we have a School Council.
The Council is led by children from Year 6 who write manifestos at the start of the year and present these in front of the whole school.
Following the presentation of these speeches, children throughout the school are given a slip to cast their vote as to who should be given the role of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary of the Council, along with any respective Vices. We feel this approach gives the children a realistic insight into the British Value of Democracy.
Once the named persons are elected, each class will have their own vote to elect a class representative who will meet with the rest of the council regularly.
The job of a school councillor is to try and improve the school by listening to suggestions from everybody. They relay important school information to our classes and put their ideas to the Headteacher. They also feedback from the meetings to their classes and take any suggestions they may have to the next meeting.
