Criteria for selection of sites for field experiences will be developed in consultation with appropriate school districts. Criteria will be based on the required CCTC standards and competencies, the Mills College credential preparation documents, and the curriculum for the required program. School district and school site supervisors will be invited to attend orientation seminars, as well as seminars for program development and evaluation, which provide a partnership between practitioners and the college in maintaining a continuous focus on the program goals and the candidate’s needs.
After consensus is reached on criteria for field sites, the specific sites are chosen in the following sequence: (1) nomination by the district; (2) voluntary participation by the site; (3) review and approval by Mills faculty.
Candidates are also involved in the selection of the site. Mills professors will work with the districts to share knowledge of exemplary professionals. The Mills faculty take an active role in selecting the field experience setting in order to ensure the best experiences for candidates and to make the best contribution to the profession.
