Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye scores his first rushing touchdown in preseason game number two against the Philadelphia Eagles
The New England Patriots got off to a 1-0 start with a very sloppy win in week one against Cincinnati, but have not won since then. The Patriots problems consist a lot with the under performance of the defense , having too many open wide receivers, allowing 10 third down conversions in last Thursdays loss to the Jets. On the other side of the ball, patriots offensive playcalling has had some positive moments this year, especially compared to the horrendous showing of last year, but our main problem on offense is still the offensive line. I feel like the wide receivers are more talented this year, and are doing a better job getting open but with the mix of the o line letting up 12 sacks already this year, and the current quarterback Jacoby Brissett not being the most aware and athletics quarterback in the world leads them to a not so well functioned offense. I truly think with our strong running game, and with our younger recievers getting better every game, we can match them with 6'4 quarterback, third pick in the 2024 NFL Draft Drake Maye out of North Carolina. Drake Maye being only 22 year old, was drafted by the patriots with the intent of him sitting through a whole season, but I think with the talent, arm strength and athleticism shown in the preseason but also in Patriots week three game against the Jets in which he only played one drive. Not only Drake Maye's talent but the chemistry that rookies, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, and Drake Maye all share after spending 30 minutes together after training camp this summer, can lead them to an offense that might be playoff worthy this year but, definetly a trio that could be noticable in future years.
