Students who drive an automobile, moped, motorized scooter or motorcycle to school must register their vehicle with school security. Upon registering with the school, the student will be advised of the rules associated with this privilege and issued a parking permit. Permits must be displayed on the passenger side of the front windshield in automobiles. Students riding mopeds, motorized scooters or motorcycles must be prepared to present the parking permit should it be requested. Illegally parked vehicles will be ticketed (payable to Milford Police Department) and/or towed at the owner’s expense. Failure to obey rules, parking regulations, speed limits, and/or safe driving practices may result in the loss of driving and/or parking privileges.
1st offense: Loss of driving privileges on school grounds for one semester.
2nd offense: Loss of driving privileges for one year.
Parking lot rules are as follows:
All vehicles must be operated in a safe manner.
Parking by permit only
Parking in proper spaces only. Students should not park in spaces designated as teacher or visitor parking.
Speed limit is 15 miles per hour
Students driving or riding on a moped, motorized scooter, or motorcycle are required to wear a helmet
The school is not responsible for damage to vehicles or theft from vehicles parked on school property
Drivers must obey all traffic and parking signs
Visitors must register with the main office
Only students in Grade 3 and beyond may ride their bicycles to school. By Connecticut state law, all bicycle riders must wear a helmet. All riders are to walk their bicycles once on school property and park them at the bicycle rack. Bikes are to be locked at all times. The school is not responsible for the loss of or damage to bicycles. Rollerblades, scooters, and skateboards are not allowed on school grounds and will be confiscated and returned to parents.
Your school administrators will communicate the specific procedures in place for your school. It is important to read this information carefully and follow these procedures. The first few weeks of school may be unfamiliar, especially for new parents to your school. Please remember to treat fellow parents with patience and in the spirit of cooperation.
If you can’t pick up your child promptly, please make other arrangements. This is for the safety of your child. When it is necessary for a parent to pick up a student during regular school hours, parents must visit the school greeter or security staff first. The student will then be called to the main office for dismissal.
Double parking is strictly prohibited. We ask for your help in these matters since the safety and protection of our children is our primary goal.
