In my four years as an editor for my high school newspaper, The Advocate, my main goal was to help all new reporters feel as comfortable as possible while writing their articles. Whether they decide to write a news story, sports story, editorial, or review, my goal as Editor-In-Chief was to help make the articles sound as professional as possible. I also lead my fellow section editors in meeting and discussions to come up with print, video, and audio content ideas for our newspaper and social media accounts. As Editor-In-Chief, I was also responsible for posting content to our Wordpress page and to The Advocate's Twitter/X and Instagram accounts.
My senior year, I worked with my Journalism Teacher/Newspaper Advisor and our school's Athletic Director on an Independent Study focusing on Sports Journalism. It truly helped me see a different side of the journalism world and provided me a leadership role in promoting my school's student-athletes through a variety of media outlets. My largest project was creating and maintaining an Instagram account - and social media presence in general - for our Athletic Department, complete with daily posts, graphics, and important game information and creating all of the graphics and video for our school's new digital scorers table.
