The high school season consists of a number of dual meets, the majority of which are against teams in the Granite Ridge Conference.
All high school meets have 12 events - eight individual swimming events, one individual diving event, and three relay swimming events.
Each team is allowed to enter up to three swimmers/divers per event for a six-lane pool in each Varsity and Junior Varsity heat for dual meets & 4 individual/1-2 relay entries in championship meets.
Swimmers/divers may enter a maximum of 4 events, with no more than 2 being individual events.
Participants are selected by the coaches for each event or relay based in their times and the coaches' discretion. The coaches may place a swimmer in events based on their goals for the team for that particular meet or conference standings. Priority is given to fulfilling the team's Varsity roster over the JV roster.
Meet line-ups (or programs) are created in advance, but changes can be made as the meet progresses.
The visiting team gets to choose odd or even lanes.
Dual Meet Order of Events:
200 Yard Medley Relay
200 Yard Freestyle
200 Yard Individual Medley

Dual Meet Scoring:
Only Varsity heats earn points toward the team total points.
Some Junior Varsity meets are scored separately.
Relays are scored: 8-4-2-0 (with only two relay teams being allowed to score for each team)
Individual events are scored 6-4-3-2-1-0
Once a team scores 94 points they have enough points to win the meet. As a courtesy to the opposing team, many coaches will score the remaining events as exhibition after they reach the score of 94.
Scoring is different for pools with less than 6 lanes & championship meets.
