Sea Monkeys

As the theme of Science Week this year is 'Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans' we decided each class would grow Sea Monkeys in their classroom. As we are not at school for Science Week this year, we will do this when we return to onsite learning.

Sea monkeys or aqua dragons, the names they are sold under, are a type of invertebrate zooplankton called brine shrimp. The particular species we are going to grow, Artemia salina, are able to essentially lie dormant in their dried eggs, until the eggs get put into water. When this happens they hatch and begin to grow! Absolutely amazing creatures!!

I have been growing some at home and have some videos to share with you. Check them out below!
