A Welcome from the Director

Having grown up in the world of pageants—as a competitor, a “pageant daughter,” a Miss California chaperon, and now your director—I’ve seen firsthand the incredible transformation that happens when a young woman chooses to show up fully as herself. My hope for every contestant is simple: be true to who you are, honor your commitments, and give yourself permission to grow. This experience is not about perfection, but about discovering your voice, keeping the promises you make to yourself, and learning what you’re capable of when you step outside your comfort zone. I believe deeply in the power of this program and in the strength, grace, and potential of every young woman who walks through our doors. I am honored to guide you on this journey and I cannot wait to see you shine as the very best version of you.

What to expect on the road to the crown.

Workshops & Rehearsals

Contestants meet for weekly for rehearsals, interview coaching, stage practice, and group workshops. These sessions help you build poise, professionalism, and presence while forming bonds that last long after the Fair ends.

Mentorship & Guidance

You’ll experience structured coaching, purposeful preparation, and consistent communication from a dedicated team committed to helping you grow into your strengths and shine with authenticity.

A Supportive Sisterhood

You’ll join a cohort of driven young women who each carry unique talents, backgrounds, and ambitions. Through shared challenges, and victories, you’ll foster connections that enrich your journey and create a network of support.

Categories of Competition

Participation & Engagement

Contestants are expected to demonstrate reliability and commitment by arriving prepared, attending rehearsals on time, communicating promptly, and completing required tasks. While not a judged category, these expectations reflect the responsibility of Fair ambassador and contribute to overall standing.

Fair Proposal

Here you’ll present a meaningful idea or initiative that benefits the California Mid‑State Fair and community. Whether rooted in agriculture, youth engagement, arts, or service, this category highlights your creativity, community awareness and leadership potential. What will your legacy be?

Interview

In this key category, you’ll engage in a professional-style one-on-one conversation with our judges. It’s your moment to express who you are—your values, ambitions, leadership vision and communication style. The Interview is designed to recognize your voice, your presence and the depth behind your story.

Talent

Your time to shine! Whether you bring vocal performance, instrumental music, dance, visual arts, demonstration of a hands-on skill, or beyond, the Talent category celebrates your authenticity and confidence. Own your moment and lead through excellence in what you love.

Evening Gown

Float across the stage with grace, dignity, presence, and purpose. This moment showcases how you carry yourself, your poise, and your maturity as a young woman prepared to represent the Fair and your community.

Final Question

As the culmination of your journey on stage, the Final Question allows you to speak from the heart, respond with clarity and demonstrate your public speaking skills. It’s a live moment of truth where composure meets sincerity.
