"The Biggest Little Fair Anywhere!"
For more than half a century, the Miss California Mid-State Fair Scholarship Pageant has been a beloved Central Coast tradition and the official ambassador program of the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, California. Founded in 1969 as the Maid of San Luis Obispo County pageant, it has grown into a modern scholarship competition that celebrates leadership, service, and the unmistakable spirit of San Luis Obispo County’s young women.
Over the years, the pageant has carried several names—Maid of San Luis Obispo County (1969–1980), Miss California Mid-State Fair (1981–1994, including two years as a preliminary to the Miss USA Pageant), and now the Miss California Mid-State Fair Scholarship Pageant, a title that reflects its core purpose: empowering contestants to pursue their educational and personal goals.
