"Brain, I can hear you." P4, Gorebridge Primary
Sometimes the hardest thing is to start. The following section is tips, ideas and my own lessons learnt from introducing Mindfulness Practices into a school.
"Littles matter. Littles create, mediums which create bigger change". M.Gladwell, Tipping Point and Dr L Gardiner, Potent6.
Start small.
Here are some starting points:
Is your Senior Management Team engaged and supportive of the idea of introducing Mindfulness to your school?
Is there someone in your staff team that is interested in wellbeing? Invite them to be a Mindfulness Ambassador for the school. Maybe they can own this project in your school.
Could they bring together a small group of children to be the Mindfulness Ambassadors across the school?
Look at some of the information and practices in this tool kit to understand more about mindfulness and its benefits.
Start with the practice of belly breathing. If this is all you do for a year then I’m believing that would make a difference to some children.
