What will I Learn?

• You will develop their playwork skills in working with children and young people. 

• You will develop your personal qualities as well as your knowledge and skills in play and playwork; communication and development; wellbeing; and health and safety surrounding the topic.

What could be helpful?

• It is designed for those who are considering a career working with young people e.g teacher, sports coach etc.

• You should be confident in delivering sessions within your chosen sport or looking to gain experience working with children.

• You will be required to write essays as assessments, therefore N5/Higher English is recommended.
  
  

Is there is an Exam?

• There is no exam however there are three units assessed throughout the year and these are internally assessed and verified by the SQA. 

  • Unit 1 

    • 3 x 250 word essays on the principles and theories of play

    • 2 x 750 word essays of the adult's role in the sports environment and benefits of play. 

  • Unit 2 - 3 x closed book assessments on health and safety in the sports environment.

  • Unit 3 - Two play sessions must be planned, led and evaluated but must complete 20 hours throughout the year.
