Services
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy uses evidence-based approaches within the context of a person-centered, solution-focused working alliance. Sessions focus on learning and practicing skills, achieving mutually defined therapy goals, and improving overall quality of life. The duration of treatment can be short-term or longer-lasting depending on individual needs. Weekly individual DBT-Informed Therapy sessions are recommended for DBT-Informed Skills Group members.
Group Therapy
The group is wholly other than the sum of its parts. Group therapy recognizes the value of individual contributions, as well as the inherent need of the individual to relate deeply and meaningfully with others. This is a present-centered, dynamic, and interactive process which helps its members to build trust and gain insight into their own lived experiences.
DBT-Informed Skills Groups
DBT-Informed Skills Groups use a structured, didactic approach to teach the skills of mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation, while maintaining flexible adherence to the DBT Skills Training Manual: Second Edition (Linehan, 2015) and the DBT Skills Manual for Adolescents (Rathus & Miller, 2015). Reasonable adaptations are offered to accommodate learning differences. Studies confirm the effectiveness of skills training when each member is committed to daily skills practice and weekly skills group attendance.
Telephonic & Online Skills Coaching
Telephonic skills coaching facilitates and reinforces effective skills use in between sessions. Within reasonable limits, this service provides a brief, solution-focused intervention for those who may be struggling to solve problems when difficult life situations arise.
Consultation & Supervision
Consultation is a professional cornerstone that enables counselors and students to purposefully connect with their peers and share knowledge to improve their effectiveness. Weekly individual and monthly group supervision is available for graduate counseling program interns and pre-licensed counseling professionals seeking to develop their skills and obtain prerequisites for graduation, certification, and licensure.
