The staff of the Atlantic Cape Family Support Organization are parents and caregivers of children with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenges. Caregiver support groups include Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and virtual groups in Spanish. Their warmline is staffed 8:30am-4:30pm to connect families to resources and address parenting concerns: 609-485-0575.
The county library system offers a wealth of resources at each of their locations. Did you know that in addition to books and other media, items such as cooking utensils, board games, and museum passes may be borrowed for free? The library also hosts workshops, support groups, wellness and fitness classes, and more for all ages.
Caring for Kids believes that parents are children's first and most influential teachers. They offer parenting education and support, including groups and community events like Community Baby Showers, reading nights, and themed celebrations such as Dr. Seuss Day.
CFBNJ operates food banks throughout the state, as well as supports families with connecting to resources like Summer Meal Programs and SNAP (formerly food stamps). Their Community Connections team is a multi-lingual Benefit Assistance Team that provides resources, application assistance and education to all community members.
Since 1982, The Cooperative has helped connect families throughout South Jersey to resources for maternal-fetal and infant care. Resources are designed to address multiple factors that impact families, including everything from quitting smoking and ensuring homes are lead-free to postpartum care and connection.
The New Jersey Early Intervention program is designed to support families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of children birth to age three who have delays or disabilities by providing quality services and support to families and their children. Pediatrician referrals are not required. Follow the link above to connect to trained representatives who can help you determine if this service is right for your child.
The Hazelden Betty Ford Children's Program provides support, education and care to kids who grow up in a family with alcohol or other drug addiction.
Virtual programs are free to families.
In addition to coordinating youth sports programs and events such as holiday parades, the township's Rec Department is responsible for a wide range of community assets, including the Davies Sports Complex, MLK Rec Center, the Bike Path, Ockie Wisting Rec Complex, Avalon Fishing Pier, and more.
NJ4S is a statewide model that connects students and their caregivers to services to support students' social, emotional, and mental health. If a child is experiencing behavioral or other challenges, PerformCare will do an assessment to determine what supports can be put in place to help the child and family. They also assign a case manager to help coordinate any services put into place. The 24/7 hotline number is 1-877-652-7624.
PRAC aims to pave the way to a thriving and unified community by empowering individuals, enhancing community resilience, and enriching cultural understanding. Services range from healthcare education and coordination, employment support, and utility assistance to immigrant and refugee services and operating a women's resource center. Staff is multilingual and many resources are tailored to Spanish-speaking members of our community, but services are available to all.
Shore Family Success Center
A family-centered neighborhood gathering place located in Cape May Court House, the Family Success Center has resources to help families and individuals as well as many fun and informational ways to get involved.
