What is ICAP?

An ICAP is a multi-year process that guides students as they explore career, academic and post-secondary opportunities. Family, student and educators collaborate to develop the ICAP, which equips students with the awareness, knowledge, and skills to create their own meaningful exploration of college and career opportunities. The ICAP is an evolving document that reflects students’ changing passions, aptitudes, interests, and growth.

Why is ICAP necessary?

In May 2017, the Oklahoma State legislature passed legislation that introduces the concept of an Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP), a required element for all students in grades 9th-12th grades.

What does ICAP at MCHS look like?

Midwest City HS will be using the OK Career Guide as a tool to help implement the ICAP plans for our freshmen and sophomore students during the course of this school year.

By Grade level, the ICAP may include:

  • Career Interest Survey Results

  • Possible postsecondary institutions/pathways

  • Possible careers and majors

  • Financial Aid and Scholarship Information

  • Post-secondary Documentation

  • Record of student's college and post-secondary applications
