STANDARD BREAST MRI

Sequences:

  1. Localizer

  2. In phase sequence

  3. T2 w fat sat

  4. Inversion recovery sequence

  5. T1 fat sat precontrast

  6. T1 fat sat post contrast x 3

    • Inject contrast. Scan first pass immediately (no delay)

    • Scan 2nd pass immediately when 1st pass finishes.

    • Scan 3rd pass immediately when 2nd pass finishes.

    • *Send precontrast, post contrast pass 1, pass 2, and pass 3 each separately to PACS (ie not stacked or interleaved, but each as their own independent sequence in PACS).

    • *Send SUBTRACTED post contrast pass 1, 2, and 3 each separately to PACS (ie there should be 3 individual separate subtracted sequences in PACS).

    • *Send sagittal reconstruction of post con pass 2.

    • *Send sagittal reconstruction of SUBTRACTED post con pass 2.

  7. MIP series

    • Axial MIP of the subtracted pass 1, subtracted pass 2, and subtracted pass 3 (total of 3 MIP images). These need to be STACKED, so that they are in PACS as 1 series - 1st image is sub pass 1 MIP, 2nd image is sub pass 2 MIP, 3rd image is sub pass 3 MIP.

Specific parameters for the T1 fat sat precon and the T1 fat sat post contrast images are as follows:

  • 3D acquisition

  • 1 mm slices

  • Contiguous with no gap

  • FOV: 300 mm

  • Matrix: 300 x 300

  • Voxel size: 1 x 1 x 1mm
