Wind
Dubai is known for their "Shamals" which are what they call strong gusts of wind that blow in over the course of a day or two. The prevailing winds are north-westerly; however, Shamals are unpredictable and can come from any direction. (12)
North-to-south wind usually comes directly from the sea, bringing in the moisture of the Persian Gulf; however, when winds go south-to-north, they bring dust and sand from the Arabian desert. (5)
