The most common types of rocks in Dubai are limestone, hard rock, and granite (30). Dubai has a lot of natural resources oil, natural gas, and solar resources (31) These have helped Dubai gain some of it wealth.
While Dubai does not fall on a fault line, it is located on the edge of Arabian Tectonic Plate. This location makes earthquakes less of a worry but does not have any significant affects on the city. Dubai still experiences a few shakes every once in awhile. This being said, the Arabian and Eurasian form a plate boundary close to the city. This collision creates the Zagros Mountains in Iran located about 2,000km from Dubai (35).

Since Dubai is a huge tourist center there is a major concern for the beaches. There is a problem due to erosion affecting its coastlines, making it recede. It is reported by the environment organization of Dubai that every 2 years the coast is eroding at least 50 meters. This is due to the strong winds and strong wave currents (38).
OTHER FACTORS SHAPING OUR LANDS
The biggest impact on the landscape surrounding Dubai other than what has already been mentioned would be the desert that it borders. The sand is picked up by winds and slams into the first thing it finds, little by little eroding everything away and falttening out the the surrounding area, leaving nothing but sand dunes (32).

Dubai is a watershed for the Persian Gulf. Watersheds are areas of land that channel water into a body of water, such as a river, lake, or ocean. Rain water over the UAE flows into the Persian gulf through rivers or streams (40).
