I am a senior majoring in Music (B.A.) with a concentration in Vocal Performance and a co-major in Arts Management. This research project serves as my Senior Capstone, culminating everything I've learned from both of my majors. After graduation, I’ll be returning home to Cleveland to continue performing and kickstart my career. This project has helped me navigate the live music scene and begin building my professional network.
I am an outgoing person and one thing I'm good at is communicating and making friendly relationships. I've always been a fan of podcasts—especially those hosted by comedians. They're great at drawing out a guest's true personality by keeping the conversation humorous and engaging. Instead of sticking strictly to a list of questions, they use creative dialogue that feels more natural and spontaneous. My goal for this podcast is to be educational, entertaining and relatable.
Creating a podcast has achieved multiple goals at once. Not only have I gained deeper insight into my desired career path, but I've also started building my professional network, improved my interviewing skills, and learned how to film and edit videos.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from speaking with my interviewees is the value of networking in the music industry—it’s almost everything. Take risks, get in the room, shake hands, make your name known, be kind, and show them what you’ve got.
