Morgan joined the lab in October 2023 as a first-year graduate student in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Miami University. She is a native of Pennsylvania and attended Bucknell University for her undergraduate studies, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Cell Biology/Biochemistry. During her undergraduate tenure, she conducted 4 years of research under the guidance of Dr. Charles Clapp on the binding orientation of substrates for Soybean Lipoxygenase. Morgan later joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to pursue her graduate studies under the mentorship of Dr. Nicole Buan’s Lab, investigating the effects of protein over-expression on the viability of Methanosarcina acetivorans. She graduated with a Master's in Biochemistry and then worked in industry at Celerion Inc. before joining Miami University to pursue her doctoral training.
Taylor joined the lab in October 2023 as a first-year graduate student in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Miami University. She graduated from Youngstown State University in 2023 with honors and holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Taylor is considering pursuing a career in industry or as a researcher in the biochemistry field. She is passionate and intrigued with the human gut microbiome and its application to cancer research but is also open to other possibilities. Taylor enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching her favorite TV shows.
Ruth joined the lab in November 2024 as a first-year graduate student in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Miami University. A native of Imo State, Nigeria. She graduated with honors in 2021, earning a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. Driven by a personal connection to the challenges of antimicrobial resistance, Ruth is passionate about drug discovery, particularly in developing innovative solutions to combat this global health threat. She is also open to exploring other areas of drug discovery and is eager to tackle diverse scientific challenges where impactful solutions can make a difference. Ruth is considering a career in industry, where she hopes to channel her passion into driving advancements in science and technology. Outside of her academic pursuits, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.
